The morning air in the Forward Engineering Camp was tense as Queen Livena climbed into her towering war machine, a deadly creation built to mark her coronation seven years earlier. She was to assault the enemy’s last major defensive line at sunrise, hoping to end a war that had dragged on for over half a decade. It was time for her to return home in triumph or not return at all.
The queen’s heart sank as she saw the morning sun break the horizon. This would be the last sunrise for so many of her people who would charge into battle today, a day whose sunset she might never see.
